TRACK RULES

2020 WINDY HOLLOW SPEEDWAY

GENERAL RULES

THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS ARE SET FORTH HEREIN ARE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE THE ORDERLY CONDUCT OF RACING EVENTS AND TO ESTABLISH MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE REQUIREMENTS OF SUCH EVENTS. THESE RULES SHALL GOVERN THE CONDITIONS OF WINDY HOLLOW SPEEDWAY EVENTS AND BY PARTICIPATING IN THESE EVENTS, ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE DEEMED TO HAVE COMPLIED WITH THESE RULES. NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATION OF, OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. THEY ARE INTENDED AS A GUIDE FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE SPORT AND IN NO WAY A GUARANTEE AGAINST INJURY OR DEATH TO PARTICIPANTS, SPECTATORS OR OTHERS.

 

  • No 4-wheel drive or All wheel drive vehicles allowed

  • Convertibles allowed not allowed.

  • ALL glass and flammable materials MUST be removed from car.

  • ALL car doors must be welded or bolted shut.

  • If doors are gutted, there must be a door plate or at least three (3) door bars in place.

  • All Bombers and Mini Stocks MUST have at minimum a 4-point roll cage and door plate. Cruisers and Rusty Bolts require 6-point roll cage with door plate.

  • All cars MUST have a hood to race.

  • All cars must have a tow chain or tow hook in the front and rear.

  • Car must have window nets with working buckle and must be used during every race.

  • Fuel cells are legal, but not mandatory in bombers or mini stock.

  • Fuel cells must be securely mounted.

  • Electric fuel pumps are legal, but you MUST run a safety shut-off switch. Switch must be within reach from outside the driver’s door. All classes may use aftermarket shut-off sensor for fuel pump.

  • All cars must have a fully charged fire extinguisher within reach of the driver.

  • All cars must have sealed firewall in front of the driver, open holes in firewall must be sealed.

  • All cars have firewall between trunk (or gas tank area) and drivers compartment and open holes must be sealed.

  • Seat belts: all cars must have 5-point racing harness seat belts.

  • Drivers are required to wear racing jacket. Minimum of long sleeves in beginner classes may be allowed in 2020 but racing jackets will be required in 2021 and beyond.

  • Drivers are required to wear racing pants or blue jeans. Polyester or other similar material should not be worn. Please refer to class rules if more than single layer is required. (If you do not have racing pants, be sure to add it to your Santa’s list)

  • All drivers must wear closed toe shoes.

  • All drivers must wear full face helmet with shield. These helmets must be approved and meet SFI or Snell safety standards.

  • Cars must have legible number on both doors and roof.

  • Added weight and driveshafts should be painted white. Added weigh should also be numbered.

  • If you purposely hit a car under caution or after a race you will be subject to disqualification. A second offense will result in disqualification and possible other actions to be determined by race director or track manager.      

  • For the safety of your crew and customers, the pit parking area and infield speed is 5 MPH. Anyone speeding or driving recklessly is subject to disqualification.

  • Due to possible flying debris, victory donuts are not allowed.

  • Track officials must be notified of any driver changes during the night. Failure to do so will result may result in disqualification.

  • Decisions of the Race Director, Pit Stewards and Track Owner will be FINAL, any situation not covered by written rules will be acted upon by the Officials in charge, whose decision is FINAL and BINDING to all participants. If it is not written it will be considered ILLEGAL!

 

  • If you have an open trailer and put Windy Hollow Speedway on your racecar bumper, spoiler or on the back of enclosed trailer, you will receive a $10 gift certificate if you finish the feature.

 

  • The management and staff of Windy Hollow Speedway wants you to be safe while having fun and being competitive. The fans want to see great racing, but they also want to see your personalities! We encourage you to have fun, dress up your car, get a nickname, and let your personality shine. Remember, it must be family friendly. Anything deemed inappropriate or in bad taste will be covered up or removed.

 

IT WILL BE THE RESPOSIBILITY OF ALL PARTICIPANTS TO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND ALL RULES SET FORTH BY WINDY HOLLOW SPEEDWAY OFFICIALS!

 

PROTEST RULES

  • All protests MUST be made within 5 minutes of the finish of your feature race.

  • Protesting driver MUST finish on the lead lap.

  • Only the competing driver may post a protest and it must be made to the tech director to be considered valid.

  • Driver may not protest without giving the protest money to the tech director at the time of the protest.

  • During a protest, only 2 persons will be allowed in Tech area.

  • Protesting driver will be required to tear down at the same time as driver you protest.

  • Protest cost:

    • $250.00 to remove a head (track retains $50.00)

    • $500.00 complete tear down (track retains $100.00)

 2020 CLASS RULES

Cruiser Rules

  • Drivers Compartment must be completely sealed

  • Aftermarket Body is legal

  • Aftermarket Nose is legal

  • Spoilers are legal 8" maximum

  • Racing Wheels are legal 8" maximum

  • DOT or Hoosier modified tires only

  • All suspension mounts and locations must remain stock except upper A arm mounts
    Tubular upper and lower A arms are legal

  • Trailing arms must be stock

  • Wedge bolts are legal

  • Shocks can be relocated

  • 9" Ford rear ends are legal and can be locked

  • Quick steer is legal

  • 361 Cubic Inch Limit

  • No stroking or de-stroking

  • Flat top or dished pistons only

  • 460 max cam lift, must be hydraulic

  • Any 23 Degree cast iron head is legal

  • Porting and polishing is legal

  • 4412 carburetors only 4412 will be gauged

  • If you run a factory sealed 602 crate engine you can run any 4-barrel carburetor

  • The 602 engine must remain stock with factory valve covers and factory distributor

  • Any transmission is legal

  • The number one spark plug must not be any further back than the upper ball joints.

  • American Racer tires are allowed for 2020.

Bomber Rules

 

EVERYTHING ABOUT THE VEHICLE MUST BE STOCK!!!

  • See General rules for safety requirements and other rules.

  • Engines, transmissions, rear-ends, brakes, chassis and suspension must be stock.

  • V8 or V6 engines only

  • 447 / 222 max hydraulic camshaft

  • No 400 engines

  • No double hump Heads

  • No Vortec heads

  • Fuel injection, throttle body and stock carburetors are legal

  • No super chargers or turbos

  • Racing valve cover and breathers are legal

  • Racing Wheels are legal 7" max, no bead locks

  • DOT tires only

  • Open rear ends only, no posi-traction or limited slip, no shimming.

UMP Mini-Stock Rules

  • Please see General Rules for safety requirements and other rules.

  • 4-cylinder engines only

  • No super chargers, turbos or nitrous oxide

  • Engine must be stock, no porting or polishing

  • Headers are legal

  • Stock ignition only

  • Chassis and suspension must be stock

  • Locked rear end or front end is legal

  • Max wheel width 8"

  • DOT tires only

  • Transmission, clutch, or torque converter must be stock.

Rusty Bolt Rules

 

  • Front firewall MUST remain stock and in stock location.

  • Open holes in firewall must be sealed.

  • Must have firewall between trunk area and drivers compartment and open holes must be sealed.

  • Trunk floor and rear wheel wells may be removed.

  • Must have a STOCK floor pan from front firewall to back of front floor pan (behind seat)

  • Cars may run aftermarket body.

  • Cars can have an aftermarket nose, NO late model noses.

  • Cars can run a 5-inch spoiler.

  • Maximum wheel width is 8 inches.

  • Beadlocks are allowed.

  • DOT or Hoosier Modified tires allowed

  • ALL suspension mounts and location MUST BE STOCK!

  • A-Arms MUST be stock.

  • Trailing arms MUST be stock.

  • 9-inch Ford floater rear ends are allowed. May be locked.

  • Quick Steer allowed

  • Chevrolet 305 cubic inch engine or Ford 302 cubic inch engine

  • ABSOLUTLY NO stroked or de-stroked engines!

  • Engine MUST be in STOCK location!

  • Max bore is .060.

  • Engine may be balanced.

  • Stock connecting rods

  • Flat top or dished pistons.

  • Stock cast iron heads. NO porting or polishing.

  • NO vortec heads!

  • 1.94 and 1.5 valves ONLY!

  • Maximum cam shaft lift is 4.10; Hydraulic ONLY!

  • STOCK 1.5 rocker arms

  • Screw in rocker arm studs are legal.

  • MUST run a STOCK cast iron dual plane intake. ABSOLUTLY NO high rises allowed!

  • 1” carburetor spacer/adapter allowed if you have a Holley 4412

  • Quadrajet and 4412 Holley Carburetors ONLY! 4412 WILL be gauged!

  • Cast iron exhaust manifolds ONLY!

  • Any stock transmission allowed!

  • Automatic transmissions must have 10 inch or bigger working torque converter.

  • Straight shift transmissions must have a 10 inch or bigger stock type single disc clutch.
